I am not papa Bear but just something to think about. If you grind both seasons of castor and keep them separate you have two different beaver smells. If you mix them you now have one beaver smell. Different , yes but only one. Good Luck

my thought is mink, otter, fisher weasel skunk are all cousins so to speak. and if one finds an odor attractive does the rest or if not why not.

1 if you use fresh castor , wouldnt you be using something that smells more like a beaver? 2. if you use aged castor wouldnt this produce a different odor that whatever will not recognize ?

Tonquin being mentioned, is there anything that does not show interest in its odor?

There are many areas in the Adirondacks or Big Woods that have few to no Fisher. If you were in one of these area you probably would have little to no success no matter what you used.

Not seeing , I cant be sure but it sounds like you placed an obsticle in the minks line of travel instead of placing a trap in a manner that the mink would pass over the trap.

First thing have a little confidence in your self. You are smarter than any mink. Watch the mink , let him show you what to do. A bait set is good to start with. Dig a hole and put bait in it. beaver , fish muskrat will all work. set trap with zero pan tension. and wait. Good Luck.

Remember a picture of EJ Dailey making a set . Said it was for coon, looked like it was on a Beech ridge. Seen mink up there hunting chipmunks.

It may be the one I deleted. You wish to post your opinions as a Gentlelman and in a civil way you may do so. All you want to. Otherwise they may be deleted. Got a problem with that. Take it up with Wayne.
