never had them in otter. have had them in beaver real bad. bloodrunning out of them, open wounds. . Have had some in mink also. Good job on your otter.

Question on bottom picture. See how skin is curled around clip? I have had trouble there before. I. Fur dries hard around clip making it difficult to remove with out tearing or 2 hide does not dry properly, stays wet and has a chance to spoil. like the idea of piece of tail left to hook to.

I have caugt several similiar to that, it is best to open the leg hole up when you board it. they have a tendency to pucker and not dry down in the leg itself.

I like the lose jaw towards the hole dog on outside. Slide wire is ok but probably not necessary.

You split it all the way to the tip. otherwise it wont dry. it will rot and the hair will all fall out.
