No problems with birds, blind sets with gland or pee...give em place they want to walk (I think mini bike trail) with a hoe or my truck tire...rock with gland or pee and bingo. Re-make, I erase all sign of catch circle (as best I can) and put trail right back where it was originally. If setting away gets ya better results then I would keep doing what your having success doing.

Dont know why ---jest never could take any number of animals at a pile---but have no problems away from a pile----Guess That is jest the way it goes----its intresting here ---that some can do well at a location and others cant =----some do well with this or that type of lure-ETC. ETC...---I think the bottom line is we all have our way of doing this thing Called Trapping ----AND THERE IS NO WRIGHT OR WRONG WAY----ITS what works for us.
The story Jim is refering to Happened years ago---at a NYSTA convention---(some may remember it) A dealer was selling this great smelling urine at a very low price---and he was selling lots of it-------Turned out it was tincured Goldenrod and skunk essance. Guess lots of guys used it and did well. One more-----Back in the 1930's My dad and another guy were taking fox in very large numbers at piles----up on Tug Hill the last 2 weeks of January and the first week of February---they would some times have 8 or 9 fox at a setting---no lure ---jest bait balls laced with strych-nine.

Clarification.....I DO DO DO catch coyotes right at the pile AND ALSO away from it......but at the pile, it's all blind sets.
Away from the pile (20-30-40 yards or even further) the coyotes are caught in baited/lured offerings......
AJ, regarding fox or coyote urine on the charred wood? Never tried it......assume the dogs can tell the difference but perhaps not as alarming to them as the gland lure.
Denny....no I never did try them. Once the dogs quit peeing on them I moved them back to the compost pile.

if you use gland lure on a rock & the next day it has a glob of crap on it is that because they liked it or hated it & tryed to cover up the other scent, ???do fox shy away from coyote gland , as have not tryed it yet . was wondering as the yote is the dominate animal in the area, as i have watched my curr it does not matter as she does not shy away from either. yes von the red sauce is some nice stuff, caught 1 fox & 1 yote on it last year.

ed...went to your website two days ago to try to figure out who you were... seen you had 20 some odd lure formulas listed... from what i gathered you use to sell them commercially under quail valley lures back in the nineties.... nice gesture to list them, good, bad or indifferent...
welcome to the thread, always find it nice to have some new thoughts and opinions to hash around... was wondering if you could do me one small favor ... loose the red print.. find it harder to read, kinda hurts my eyes, lol.. any way's jump on in... jim
What website were they posted on.....does anyone have them to share

Coyote Gland Lure made by Who?? ...lol...by what methods with Red Fox urine..lol .....that would be interesting ....Red Fox attracted to Coyote spoor ...hmmm .... last Red Fox I seen attracted to Coyote ...was attacked ...ran down by The Group/Pack and ate 3/4 and left for the Crows to pick the rest of the carcass up .....

Have years of cam pics , and NOT one pic is of pooping on a rock ...that is a nervous behavior in Canines reacting to odor stimuli , if more people would Study the Animal before Trapping the Animal ... they would learn the Normal behavior ...with or without Lure , Bait or Urine ... I guess it takes more Time .... hmmm ....ahhh yeah the Digital Age ...that's it ...........
