I will be out on the line starting November 1st. Adirondack fisher and marten in 5 G starts 1st through end of month. Only putting out 10 sets each for fisher, marten and yotes. If I take a buck early I will put out more. So far muzzleloading season has been a bust.

I will be, I hope. K9s and fisher. I will be waiting until October 27th though because I have to go in for MRIs of cervical and lumbar spine on the 26th, no point setting on the 25th if I can't check them after that. Don't know what's wrong but doc wants to rule out tumors etc. before proceeding further. Literally out of the blue a few months ago I started falling apart in big chunks, nothing gradual. Strength is only at best 35-40% what it was right up until this started. Pain ALL the time, I haven't had more than 3 or 4 hours sleep since, some days can't walk even a few feet at a time, lots of other crap. Anyways, I don't mean to give an organ recital (my liver! my kidneys! my ---!!! lol), just getting very discouraged about the future if this is what it's going to be like...

Tim, I’m sorry to hear about your health issues… hoping you get positive news from the doctor and are back up running around the woods soon!! I have been preparing for a 2-3 week solo primitive trapping camp in Northern New York in early November. I’m planning to target all species…not trying to put a big dent in the critter population and come out wealthy, but just want to have fun! Picked up a canvas wall tent and large dining fly a few weeks ago, and my Cylinder stove just arrived. The hard part is trying to slim down what I want to bring so it all fits in/on my Jeep! I’ll be keeping a log and taking some picts and videos along the way…my friend said he would put a nice video together for me! Below is a link to a video he made of one of my primitive archery hunts a couple weeks ago. m.youtube.com/watch?v=qoFEojjH3TEGood luck and be safe!! Dino

I'll be waiting for some dry weather. Im tired of playing in the mud every year. With the fur prices in the toilet no need to hurry putting in sets.

Not really. Too wet to get on some of my farms so I have been doing some Turkey and deer hunting. Only have about a dozen sets out and have picked up a couple coyotes and fox. Pulling a few tomorrow with the further oncoming rains forecast for tomorrow and Saturday. Unreal how wet the ground is everywhere around here.

Wife and I put in 18 sets today, hope to get in that many tomorrow as well. We got the rain early in the week, but things seemed good today. Not looking forward to the rain starting tomorrow afternoon for two days. Glad to hear you've had some success Tony.

Nice going Tony. First check today was typical first check, a coon and three deer trips. Got in another 8 sets before the rain hit, had to pass up a few locations as wasn't sure we'd get to the sets tomorrow after the current soaking. Tomorrow will be repairing sets and get a few more in if this rain quits.

Broke the ice today, 2 reds and a coon. No new sets put in, plenty of hunters out here this morning. So we'll wait a day or so. Colder weather next week should get critters moving better.

Put in a 3 fox/yote sets around the home farm today. Will wait till next week to set much more. Fisher sets were a wash out. Poured rain every day but one. My only permission turned into an island flooded all the way around

Congrats Mac, nice day!! I was the opposite……3 fox yesterday and my first no catch day so far. Had a chance to do a few remakes I put off due to the rain and did a little bow hunting…….nothing there either.

Two more reds today, one was left behind and buried in a rock pile with mange. Also had our first possum and stinker. More rain last night and heavy wet snow all morning, really making access tough on these farmers properties. Some are tough about this, so snapped a few traps today with several inches of wet snow coming. Things look good starting Friday for 5 days! Snowing here as I write this.

I picked up another red and my first possum as well. Yeah, one field I trap I can barely get to so have to walk a ways to check it. Only have a few more days of vacation then have to pull mine, just as weather is supposed to get better…….ah well. Maybe try to get a few out around Christmas if the snow isn’t too deep.

My season hardly stops here, I trap beaver almost year round not a lot of 'em but it only takes one! I have some PR stuff going then next week will start on coyote, fox, bobcat and beaver. I have two locations that test my sanity for even climbing down then back out of these canyons. there will be a day that I won't be able to do it! We have a pretty nice red fox and they seem to be coming back after some disease knocked them down. I really miss the mink, none out here. Spent 3 weeks trappin' with a friend in North Dakota, there are some pretty coyotes there! I quit FB so I may post on here some.

Good to hear some reports since I'm not on FB. Best wishes to TMC on your health concerns. Looking forward to a report on Dino's trip and always enjoy Tom's updates. My partner and I put in a good effort for our six day southerntier fisher season but the two rain dumps certainly didn't help...

Well here we've kept the trap numbers set low but a decent steady drip of fox in the traps. I plan on pulling Thursday as I have some appointments and want to get after deer for a bit with the bow before gun season. Only one yote this year so far, but 18 reds. Also 6 coons, a few grinners, one skunk. I did have a coyote pull out of a mb550 offset. Good catch circle so he was there a while, also left droppings behind. Today I had a first. It was a location that I just set up two days ago, a huge hay field with a shallow dry ditch running across it for 500 yards between 2 woodlots. Set two double sets there. First night one of the 4 sets had a fox. Today, the set adjacent to that one had a good catch circle, but the trap was in the bed set. What caught my eye was the dirt was not mine, I use a 50/50 peat and dry dirt mix, even when dry it has that dry darker look to it. This dirt was pure dirt and very light, and it appeared sifted onto the set! I don't know what happened, other than for sure someone removed an animal from my trap and reset the trap. It was a large stepdown and I always use a guide stone or two and none were present. Also the two large tufts I set at were torn away by whatever was in there, the reset was done with no backing. But the dirt was placed nicely, did the idiot, if it was another trapper, think I wouldn't see the catch circle? A mystery to me. I left the set, will check early tomorrow and see what I see I guess. Absolutely no place at all to place a game cam.
