Enlighten us. Like what? As a member of this public, what will you buy into? I know I don't buy into the notion that more gun control would have saved these kids, perhaps you do ? Could you explain yourself so we can understand what YOU think should be done ?Is this tradgedy and are the results ,any less horrific than the kids who die at the hands of drunk drivers ? We banned alcohol once before, we ban drugs now, what has changed? Has it worked? The first step in this recent push to pass more gun control laws has been to exploit these tradgedies , and demonize the law abidding gun owners. If you voted for the recent administration ,then you probably will be more than pleased to comply with any restrictions placed on your rights, as a result of the spin placed on these tradgedies.

I posted a link that showed a news clip of an ATF seizure of Air Soft guns.. The ATF agent said they can be converted easily to full automatic machine guns... Not full auto fire Air Soft plastic BB guns, but MACHINE GUNS FIRING REAL BULLETS!!!!!! They put this crap out to see if the public, at large, will believe that toy guns can be made into machine guns to KILL PEOPLE! They are gauging just what this country's morons will believe.. Which is quite a lot, look who was re-elected. The POS in the W/H is going to use the ATF to end run Congress.. Watch it happen...
The clip was an actual news broadcast in Tacoma. I was surprised that it actually let the store owners show that the ATF agent is an idiot.. But you can bet he got a promotion...

Traps 82: I 'm aware of the link you posted and as you point out , many will believe the spin. What disturbs me most about this thing and the current cry for the banning of "assault weapons" is that many sport men believe that that would have prevented the Sandy Hook tragedy. Make no mistake. the POTUS and Mr. Biden and Gov Cumo know this and will use it to further their anti-gun agenda. According to the Brady group, the state of Conn . was in the top ten for states with gun laws that they consider model examples. The FBI reported that in those top ten states with very strict gun laws , the rate of death for homicide by firearm was 2.5 /100thou, and in states with less gun laws , was 2,4/100thou. What will happen in my view, is that the main stream media will continue it's assault on law abiding gun owners, and the NRA , until they are completely demonized in the non-gun owners eyes. In fact their current strategy, is to say that because they ARE non-gun owners ,that THEY feel unsafe around those with any type of gun. That was what was behind the down state posting of the addresses of law abiding NY state pistol permit owners. My question to AJ is what does he think should be done ,since he asked the question , " How about doing something about the kids slaughtered like pigs"? I think that the problem of violence such as this is a tad bit more complicated than a ban on weapons. It is a social problem and not a problem that should target things. I'm not attacking him personally ,but I have heard this arguement several times in the last couple weeks, and have yet to get a answer ,besides the idea that we should give into a ban on one type of weapon. Remember, is wasn't very long ago that handguns, specifically small frame snub -nosed revolvers were the main targets of the gun control crowd. If this continues, I can see myself in 2015 turing on CNN , and seeing that odious little creep Piers Morgan , opining why anyone would NEED , a high powerd bow , capable of shooting through a human being.

marshrat: What makes you think I did? Or for that matter . Do you think everyone who is a gun owner, or an NRA member all did? More assumptions. The truth of the matter however, is that the current folks holding the reins, have had along standing opposition to gun rights and the NRA.

It's just funny how most sportsman complain about gun control.........and than voted for a guy who signed a gun ban. Well, we were pretty sure he wouldn't do anything. However, we were positive o would. It has been his stated policy to do this, by hook or crook, however he could, he would. As far as gun control, look at Chicago, there have been 562 murders there, most done with handguns. They have the strictest gun laws in the nation. Mexico has a complete gun ban..20,000 plus a year killed. I heard a remark from Gabby Gifford's husband that 85% of the children killed in the world last year were killed here..to that I say bs. There is no way. This is the kind of bs stuff we have to fight and not allow to go unchallanged. I have spent the last 2 weeks nonstop fighting for our 2nd amendment rights here in this state. I think that if we loose this fight, it will not be long before they deceide to take more of our rights, and more until we have no rights left. Just my 02...take it or leave it..

Bobber.. I was simply explaining HOW this is going to go down.. Nothing as radical as complete banning or confiscation... For now.. These radicals are a patient lot.. Been waiting since 1913... And longer.. I agree with you.. No sportsman should EVER agree that somebody doesn't need a certain weapon.. As far a rat goes... If you ignore him, he tends to shut up and burrow back into his garbage pile...

Another interesting fact: In June 2010 Derrick Bird went on a shooting rampage in England killing 12 and injuring 11, before killing himself. This was 12 years AFTER! the Firearms Act of 1998 was passed in England which virtually banned all rifles, and did ban the ownership of handguns in that country. In the UK , the Firearms act of 1998 was passed as a result of the Dunbane , Scotland mass shooting of school children there . Similar to our Sandy Hook murders, and now held up to be a solution to such tragic events. You probably won't see that mentioned on CNN. But the tactics that were used to ban firearms there are being used now. Traps82, I am not dis-agreeing with you and had not found fault with what you had stated. I also agree that there won't be midnight raids to seize firearms form citizens. That would be the last thing they would want. What will probably happen is more subtle methods to discourage firearms possession like gun bans for folks with small children still enrolled in school. Or maybe gun owners living in apartment complexes, or within a certain distance to schools , churches, playgrounds, you get the picture....

BTW, The firearms that Derrick Bird used in his 2010 rampage were a .22 rifle and a double barreled shotgun. The .22 rifle did have a silencer which is legal and often required (and quite legal without a special permit unlike here)in the UK. They regard shooting a rifle without a silencer akin to running a sportcar without a muffler. He was a FAC holder as well. Doesn't sound like assault weapons are a factor, never mind the addition of their silly law.

Here is Cuomo's 7 point plan that he discussed (quickly) in his State of the State address a bit ago. He spent more time on climate change than he did gun control and a variety of other issues.
1. Enact toughest assault weapon ban in nation 2. Close private sale loophole 3. Ban high capacity magazines 4. Enact tougher penalties for gun crimes (school zone violations, felons possessing, etc) 5. Keep guns from the mentally ill 6. Ban direct internet sales of ammo 7. Create state NICS check on all ammo purchase.

That speech sounded more like a pep rally than a report on the State of the State! How come I didn't hear anything about New York being second worst state in debt in the nation? How come I did not here about more and more closed state facilities? How come New York biologists can't travel to meetings out of state? How come we don't have a full capacity of ECO's?Why do private towns have to maintain roads in the Moose River Plains? Why are our gas taxes amongst the highest in the nation? Why does this guy want to legalize small amounts of whacky tobaccy? Isn't this guy the one that pushed for legalization of marriage for the gays?He talks of equal rights for ALL New Yorkers, yet his idea of ALL New Yorkers is everyone living in Westchester and south. To quote his father, we are the "upstate hicks driving around in our pick up trucks and buying suits from Sears Roebuck". This same bird has jumped on the political band wagon and joined the ranks of people like Schumer and Brady in advocating tougher gun laws. We already have some of the toughest gun laws in the nation! Why don't we enforce the laws we already have? Why is it so hard to see that the problem isn't guns; the problem is people themselves! This Governor is merely a slick talker like all the rest, with Emporer O leading the pack. More and more I think Tom's move to New Mexico was a smart one!

Ya..he wants to open casinos in western ny..so the down state gangs can come out here to gamble..says 90% of the income will go to education..right, like the lotto money did, we all know how that worked out don't we. So, reduce our ability to defend ourselves, and increase the local crime, that oughta work..

We want guns, we need to pay for armed protection for our children, not pretend it did not happen, not run around screaming don't take my guns. A society which allows children to be slaughtered like the have mutiple times, and does nothing ain't really worth much.

Actually AJ I did vote against Obama/ Biden both times and I am a life member of the NRA.I mention that because in my reply that you quoted, I suggest that members of the NRA and sportmen who vote for folks who have actively NOT supported their rights have compromised. The fact is,if you voted for Obama and Biden you voted for a known anti-gunner with a proven track record and you may reap what you have sown. I am also a father with two young boys aged 9 and 12. So I get it. I agree that there should be armed security in schools but I don't believe banning a specific thing will change anything. I was also a vol fire fighter for many years and the Webster tragedy hit home . The gun control did do one thing there . It will provide evidence to convict the stupid young lady who bought the guns for the perp. I believe that charges should also be brought against the individuals in the system who effected the release of that animal from prison after he beat his grandma to death with a hammer. What happened to common sense? The county that tried that POS was probably trying to save money . The cost of a capital murder trail is stunning. That is the problem with laws . They allow a means to punish, and collect evidence to effect the punishment of the perp, but you are still a very dead victim in the end. If you are ever in a fight for your life you will quickly realize that there isn't a weapon big enough or fast enough, or one that holds enough cartridges. The second amendment is not about hunting . Gov Cumo apparently thinks it is. Don't vote for and support second amendment adversaries and expect them to be neutral in a emotionally charged crisis. It's easier to pass another bit of legislation that won't be enforced like all the rest.

Actually bobber the real problem is we have not mental health system, and no one wants to pay to lock up criminals for life. Instead the offical convervative line is to being to nursey rymes from the bible "cain killed able" or what ever that nonsense is, people need to pay for a society that can have open gun ownership. Pay for mental hospitals, pay for life imprisionment. I could care less who you vote for. It's pretty sad when Americans are "okay" with kids getting slaughtered as long as no one touches thier guns.
We want guns, starting paying for protection for the kids and firgure out a way to keep them away from theh extremely deranged

AJ: Where did I say that I am not for proper mental health care for disturbed individuals? Didn't I say that the Webster murderer should have stay locked up? I did point out, with provable examples and facts about the failure of laws ,most notably in the UK, where they have failed to prevent identical mass shootings? Why do you suggest that the slaughter of these children was acceptable by those arguing against more gun laws ? In fact the liberal media pounced on the shooting for it's shock effect to further a anti- gun agenda which had been faltering. In fact Mr. Biden said today on CBS , that there never was a better opportunity to effect a ban on some guns.
