When a post is made and you don't agree with the information or take exception to it do you pm the original poster to get clarification or do you rip it apart on the open forum ? This is just a thought to maybe avoid losing posters like some of the other sites and keep them here where we can all gain from their info.

The way I look at is this : If I post something & someone has a better way (or easier) then I'm going to try it. BUT what it basically boils down to is personal preference. What works for you is sometimes the best way. I'm always open to hear what others have to say cause you never know, it might work easier & be more productive.

As being fairly new, if there is a hard way to do something I'll find it. I certainly appreciate input. I have gained years of education from the boards. That is no substitute for experience but a huge help. Counter-productive criticism, I think better to be kept of boards.

I guess I would shy away from ripping it apart. Heck, yesterday I made a dumb comment about maybe setting for fisher when it is over for the year. Nobody slammed me for it because I think they realize I made a mistake. Now if I had already made the sets then I would probably deserve some grief. The other thing that you have to remember is that there are people who are reading that don't post. They might be a youngster who hasn't posted yet. If we slam people too hard then some questions might never get asked. That would be a shame in my opinion.

I believe what Wayne is referring to is what happens on other forums of people totally making the original poster feel like a small child and being scolded. This doesn't happen very often if at all on here, there's no call for it. If somebody has a question or a way of doing something and they want to share it, I feel everyone else should have the common decency and respect to either answer it or ignore it. The old saying goes "No question is a dumb question"

Yes I am not talking about adding information or stating a slightly different way to do something. We are all here to learn and/or teach. But lets say somebody posts something on regs that you feel by reading it the first time is way off the mark either the person doesn't state the info quite right or you just miss something while reading it. I am just trying to get everyone thinking before they reply on the best way to handle it without turning someone off or making them feel like an idiot on the open forum.
