If any of you folks here are state employees and make charitable donations through SEFA (State Employees Federated Appeal), you may wish to reconsider your avenues through which you make donations to charity. SEFA collects donations that benefit organizations which seek to eliminate our rights to hunt, trap, and fish. Among these groups are the Fund for Animals and HSUS. Even though SEFA collects for many other charities that have good intentions and help alot of people, I don't think I want to donate to charity through a vehicle that helps certain groups try to eliminate the rights of sportsmen. Any other opinions out there on this subject ??

THanks for that info rex. I once had a site that had that info for many organizations but I don't remember where it is or what happened to it.

One thing that we have going for us in NYS is the state employes ,teachers unions, etc.. Using their PAC money to buy off our polititions, mainly Democrats ,they are protecting hunting and trapping in NYS more than anything else. The unions, and NYS is the most unionized state in the nation ,do not want voter initiative and referendom, which has been a real problem to sportsman in 38 other states. The down side to this is the high taxes we pay for living in such a socialistic unionized state.

I am a state employee. When you give to SEFA you have the ability to give to select charities. There is a wide choice of charities to choose from. I suggest that if a person chooses to donate any money, they should research the charity beforehand. The Anti-charities have names that are confusing. So be careful in choosing one. Dave
