Chinook / Coho Salmon have started making their annual spawning run up the Salmon & Oswego rivers out of Lake Ontario. Fish throughout the River now. ;D

No, I kept it... I'm not a big fan of the Flavor of Chinook Salmon, but I know a lot of people who are. They are hard to resuscitate after you get em in the boat too; they give yah everything they got!
I did hear a little about the 40 Salmon the DEC found. I know there are people that are frustrated with the DEC spending so much money trying to rekindle the Atlantic Salmon in Ontario...

Those were wild Atlantic salmon they found, not stockers

Probably were produced by Stocked fish that successfully reproduced? I know they have a fair amount of stocked fish that do pretty well in the lake and river. If u go to the hatchery in August u can often see a few near the ladder mixed in with Skamania Steelhead (Summer Run Steelhead). I've seen pictures of some huge Atlantics guys have caught in the river!

The article was saying that with the decline in the Alewife population in the lake and the forage base reverting back to native species is what is thought to have made this possible. There is some chemical within the Alewife that prevents the Atlantic salmon form reproducing naturally and with less of them to feed on, the fish are reproducing again in greater numbers.

Went by the Oswego River today and it was loaded right up with boats. Brought me back to my chartering days. Don't miss playing bumper cars one bit. . but don't get to yell Fish ON! too much anymore.
