What is the DEC's definition of "bait" for deer? I cant seem to find it.

I have read it but don't have a copy. But basically its placing anything a deer will eat on lands inhabited by deer. It does exclude food plots because they are available 24 / 7 and the deer can't be conditioned.

It also includes salt licks. Basically anything you put out besides scents. If it is actively growing its fine.

So why do they sell this stuff in places like Gander Mountain (which I like to call take a gander at my high prices mountain)? Acorn rage must be illegal, yes?

Because those places don't only sell stuff to New York residents. Bass Pro Shops out here took out a lot of that stuff when the DEC came out with the deer feeding ban.

anything you place somewhere that is out of the ordinary and not natural is baiting. Dont get baiting confused with attractors either. There is a difference.
