Its been another outstanding turkey season for deepsleep and myself. Opening day we had bird #1 by 6:10 am. He shot a nice tom that had 3/4" spurs,20lbs. and a paint brush beard. This has to be one of the thickest beards ive ever seen. By 8:30 am. i had my first bird tagged. It was a 19 lb.,8.75" beard and 3/4 spurs. It was a great hunt and we had to setup on him 3 different times before we got him to gun range. We hunted both sat.and sun. covering many miles and ridges and only heard a handfull of birds gobble. These birds were not in the mood to play at all !! This morning at 9:30 am. our season offically ended when we scored on a double, both respectable longbeards. Bobs bird had a 8.75" beard,7/8 spurs, and was 21 lbs. My bird wore a 91/4" beard,1 inch spurs and was 18 lbs. We have 2 young hunters who have tags to fill so we will concentate on getting them oportunities to harvest their turkeys. As usual he has the pics on his camera so if i can get them from him i will post a few pics. How about anyone else? How is everyones season going? I would love to hear about everyones hunts. Good luck to you all and hunt safe. Take care.....................John

Congrats! Great season! So far we've not been able to lure the toms away from the hens in my neck of the woods, they aren't gobbling on the roost at all but will once down, but they got hens with them. Keep moving after them and they gobble like crazy each time we set up, but they just keep moving...not interested enough to go take a look. Maybe this weekend they'll be a little lonelier.....

I went out with my father-in-law this morning and called a nice one in for him. It was 22 lbs.,8" beard,7/8 spurs. We were back to the truck at 5:45 a.m. He was thrilled to get this bird as he screwed up on him last week. Its been an outstanding season here in the catskills!!
