Anybody have any tip's or tricks they would like to share for trappin K-9's in the slop. I've been trying everything I know. I'm having problems with freeze up's and such. I have been using moss under the trap, pan covers and polly glcerol for anti freeze but after a day of two of rain the anti freeze is gone.
Any suggestions?

AJ.......nothing easy about it. One of the reasons I pulled my canine line.
I use waxed dirt I make up in the offseason.....seems to work the best.
If you do not access to any I'd use peat moss or buckwheat hulls.
Traps bed easy in the mud, then cover them with the above mentioned material and try to blend over best you can.
If you have freeze thaw conditions I would soak trap bed with propylene glycol in the bedding process.
Hope this helps........Dale

I had 5 sets out thursday, and after 2 days I pulled them today, all were under water and I have dry dirt to reset, but the one place it was hairy getting in and out of . Dont need to get stuck and its all clay, what a mess. It is all part of trapping in NY.
