I guys just found this site and would like to say hello to everyone. I do have a ? regarding some older traps that I have not used in a long time. They are rusted and I was wondering what I should do to clean them up? boil them in soapy water or maybe borax? Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks pockets

Welocme pockets, glad to have you here! You can boil them in logwood dye solution to help clean them up but I would first take them to a car wash or if you have a pressure washer use that on them first to knock off some of the loose rust. I wouldn't boil them in a borax or soapy water myself though. White vinager is also a great cleaner, put some in a 5 gallon bucket and place your traps in it and after a few days they look like new!

pockets, The first thing I would do is take a wire brush to them. This will usually take care of your problem. Ed

Here is an example of the before and after rust removal technique using straight, white, 5% vinegar on a Victor #2 coil spring after soaking for four days.
