Tried something new this year; I mixed my skunk in a jar with liquid cooking oil. Used some sheeps wool on a wire. The surrounding area smelled pretty good and it lasted. I found it to be far superior to vasaline which shells over and you have to keep cracking it to keep it working. Just something to try. Ed

Johnny Thorps recipe is 1 oz. skunk essence to 15 oz. peanut oil. They mix perfectly and last a long time

I use skunk mixed w/ rendered skunk fat (after fleshing a few) and add a bit of anti freeze to it . makes a great paste on wool I gather at a local sheep farm . when the weather turns really nasty i break it out.

So, how do you guys use this stuff on your lines? Would you put it down a dirthole, or rather place it in a more elevated place in the general vicinity of sets ... then hope they'll pick up on the bait, lure, pee smells from the sets themselves??

It's usually used at fisher sets in this instance. It would make a decent call type lure if placed 6 feet off the ground in the vicenity of K-9 sets too.

Magnus....skunk is too strong to put directly on your sets. Use as a call lure upwind of your sets.
