The windows on the coon look alright,on the one I may have made the top alittle bigger (get rid of the hole) But they look goodfrom what i can see..The k-9's look like they could of been stretched alittle longer and more uniform. And the tanned yote sweet job! Ok my 2 cents...J

Thanks it all helps.I will eventually invest in all wood . I was wondering about the greys, they are prime but something was off a little.Tried bending the wire down to size.I am looking forward to going to a fur sale and learning and seeing some put up fur.Seems like all the really good trappers on here also are really good at putting it up.Their is so much to take pride in, from your traps and equiptment, to your actual sets, making a proper catch ,harvesting , skinning and finishing.I had a great time this fall , frustrating but fun.

Boards are nice ,but I still use wire..I only board my beaver, mink and fisher....Yes pride should be taken in all of this sport ,and I am sure if you catch an demo or so ,you will learn something to help. The greys looked like they were bunched up and not stretched uniformally but hey learning is learning....Hey not to throw a plug,,but try in on the essay contest,I would be able to show ya what I can....J

Ya , Its hard to tell how tight to stretch things.I cant wait for spring and the demos ,and the smell of skunk at them.1 big lure factory .You doin any demos this year?I saw the post with wire and the nice redfox.Takes doin a few to come out like that.Next 1 i think i will try the borax method and not worry about flipping them.maybe I wasnt tight enough with the fur in.Thanks for the help.

yeah practice helps ,and yeah i have been using borax nox for quit awhile..it helps.when I was younger I had an fur buyer down the road so that helped..lol..but really I would spend plenty of nights working on fur till i got it right, along with some moments of choice words..lol I guess i may be doing some demo's this year at the summer rondy..AND I know..the smell of lure at the conventions is my favorite part!

Dale, That 'coons' alright I cut the window from just at the thingy on a male and about the same place on a female. I keep it narrow as I don't want to loose any fur from the flanks. I use wood on all my fur because I just like the way it looks, you never have to worry about the width as it's always the same There are a lot of guys that can make it look just as nice on wire... but I just prefer wood. You should never really stretch your furs, just pull them down snugly and attache them with pins of wood or the hooks and clothspins on wire. If I had to choose between extra length and a bit narrower, I'd always pick the latter because if you over stretch a pelt you'll thin the fur and more receive less in the long run.

I prefer wood too ! I've got alot of wire strecthers and use them to an extent on some of the smaller and lower grade coon . I just seem to like wood better ! You've done a nice job on those coon , like Hawken mentioned the fox could have been a bit longer and narrower . heres a couple pics of some fur put up from the last two seasons

Good pics F.I..Wow i like the looks of wood to especially how neat the tails and flanks are pinned. The coon pic is good.I take it you trim them nice and neat and then tack.Grey fox are the prettiest animal alive, but redfox look the best put up in my opinion. Thanks for everyones help.

As usual FlatIron good pics. One of these days I am going to try my hand at skinning instead of dumping or burying. What a waste I know but we treat them as vermin more than anything. I know a guy who does pelts from fox and mink and sells them to a buyer in France. He used to live and trap in Canada so he uses wooden boards too. I am constantly amazed and astounded by this site and the knowledge you guys openly share, keep up the great posts guys, I learn more everyday T
