This has probably been asked a thousand imes and if so just point me to the thread. This is my first real post here but more will follow I assure you as I have a lot of questions!
This one is simple. Is there a way to modify 110's so that they are more sensitive, eg: Either less travel in the trigger, or a mod to the dog?
Simple huh?
Thanks in advance all.
All the best

How sensitive are you talking here? I've never had a problem with 110's not springing, even when trapping squirrels.

Neither have I Wayne, but the trigger travels a good two inches before firing, if I bait the trigger for rats I don't know if they may be put off.

I wouldn't worry about the travel of the trigger for rats. They are about as un-trap shy as they get and will just keep goin' through the trap 'till it goes off. If you want to reduce the travel though you could file the notch in the dog deeper so that the dog sits further down on the trap jaw and the trigger is touching the dog on the front and the back. But like Wayne said I've never had a problem with 110's not doin' the job. Feel free to ask any question you want, you said you would have a lot, I guarentee there is someone here that can answer anything you come up with.

Thanks guys. You may well be right about the travel, I might be worrying unnecessarily.
Most of my qestions will be around the lures you use, and the sets you guys (and gals) make.
We don't have leg hold traps here, and the only traps legal to use are fenns, kanias, body grips (two makes) and a couple of others. These are for nothing larger than rabbits or mink, for foxes we use either cages or snares.
I did read an excellent article about dry dirt on this forum, a great idea for fenns and mole trapping provided there is no residual odour.
All the best.
