???Talking fox and coyote, what is your success rate? How many stands do you make for each stand that gets a response? Have you had better success day or night? I'm just curious how other folks are doing, as I've made a lot of stands which I think were good with no response.

if your calling with snow on go back the next day and make a circle around your set up and cut for tracks more animals respond than alot of people think.Success rate always depends on the weather for me.Crusty snow, bright moon, and severe cold and deer season I dont have good luck.Early fall i like a rain during the day and then blacker than black at night.Coyotes will respond on open feilds in early season but later on i like thick cover for all of the critters. Some people have good luck right at daylight. I like night and a shotgun. For greyfox when its real cold i like right before dark and a 2 or 3 hours after dark , I think they hole up tight in cold. When the grey fox callin dies down i will usually hear a pack of coyotes someplace and move on them. Some areas look great but if they aint their not much you can do about it.Right before and after a storm is real good because everything is on the move. The turkeys are flocked up now and the areas where they feed are great spots for calling , coyotes like them for a snack.Keep at it, and good luck.

I treat every stand as if I called something in because in all reality you prob do and just don't know it. I would say that I have about a 50% success rate on seeing eyes altough my logs dictate better then that. But then again I have been at it for 12 years!! I also like calling either in thick cover in an opening or to thick cover. They will often give up scent for cover and thats how I kill em.

I have been calling for years. I used to keep a log and I would average eyes every 7 stands. After a few years of very little calling I started calling more about 5 years ago. And again my success seems to be about every 7 stands I see eyes. I am sure I call some in I don't see. This is an average for me. Some night I go out and call something in on every other stand and some nights never see an eye. That's hunting!!

Thanks. What part of the state are in hunting? Have you done any daytime calling? I suspect the success rate for a response in daytime is less?

I suspect the success rate for a response in daytime is less? i had good success calling during the daytime this year.....I found that predators are much more leary during the day....That being said, I think they still show up at the same stand ratio's...My stand success goes up substantially when it is cooolllld out...the colder the better.....0 is great.

I call in the finger lakes area. I have called in daytime but don't seem to do as many stands so I don't have averages for that. Although I did call in a double on coyotes this year in daytime. First double I am for me, male and female.
