I have found from 6-7.5 inches is usually just right..wire stretchers are just fine..

Wire's fine... but there's a trick to it. I have a mark on my workbench 5 3/4" from the vise. I push the stretchers together and tie string around them at this mark. Bend 'em and shape 'em up through the shoulders. Every fox will have the same, uniform shape. They'll be roughly 6 1/2" when dried. I "lightly" hook the back legs.....don't stretch them!....lightly!......don't hook the back at all. Look close at the ones behind me Hawk....see the string?....not hooked on the back? Do it right, they look like boarded fox.
