I have a few bucket sets out i wasent sure exactly how to set these up i made the buckets to the dec standards and i wired a whole skinned sun fish to the back with the trigger in front of the fish and stabilized the set with logs and rocks ive had them out for 3 night now with no visitors is this the right way to make such a set ?

You put the fish on the conibear's trigger?

wired to the back of the bucket so the trigger sits a few inches in front of it

O.K., I was a little confused....but that's not hard to do As long as you're following the DEC guidelines with the buckets I don't see a problem. I'm not a fan of bucket sets, I'd much rather make a dirt-hole set and have chance at picking up a fox, coyote or really, just about anything that doesn't want to try and squeeze into a bucket. As far as not catching anything, have you seen signs of 'coon in the immediate area? It could also be that they aren't finding the bait, are you using any lure with it?
