the set is old and simple. everything is close . much the same as a dirt hole. the pan is covered , I like a thin piece of sod. you must have pan tension. the canine will test your step before he commits. dont worry about seeing the trap itself. the pan is bu a few inches from the bait platform. as you can see this is in rocks. its on a logging road. there is a bridge just out of the picture. the canines cross here. they are but a few feet from your set. I like a combination of beaver castor ,meat and sack oil on the bait platform, here it is. Questions

That's outstanding! Like I said in your earlier post, I've always wanted to try it and just never found a spot to put it to use or had confidence in trying it I guess. Since that's considered a water set, you can still use that past Dec 10th right?

it would be a legal set. Dont tell the DEC but you could use a much larger trap also, if there is a beaver season. ED

I may have to give that a try, I have a few days off after Christmas but don't have any clean traps left. I don't have the time to re-dye & wax 'um and I can see where this set would be great for them. I have a couple of place where I know there 'yotes running through a couple corn fields but they're just too wet to make a good dirt set. Have you ever tried to stake them down or do you always use drags?
