My son and I go to the Eastern Traditional Archery Rendezvous in Coudersport, PA each summer. Great time to catch up with friends we only get to see once or twice a year and spend some fun time away from work camping and shooting. Thought you might enjoy some pictures of this event if you haven't heard of it before. The dealer tents before they're occupied with all sorts of good stuff to spend an allowance on. We normally arrive ahead of time to get a camping spot as flat land is limited since it's a ski slope and up to 8,000 people come through in five days. Trying to sell some staves at camp for a bigger allowance to shop at the dealer tents. My son on the left and his good friends Chat and Paul. Chat, in the middle, won't make it this year as he's off to Berkley to get a PhD in astrophysics. Cripes, I had hard enough time with geometry... A few pictures along the courses... Camp fires... Think my son has enough arrows? Constant arrow repair at camp... A very cool horse archery demo... Hawking wormy staves at the blanket sale for gas money to get home... Hope you enjoyed the pictures. It's such a blast being around nice, polite young adults and seeing them enjoy the simple pleasures of camping, night fires and watching arrows fly.

Great pictures. I started out my childhood years making my own bows and arrows. They were nothing special but I had alotta fun shooting frogs. I use to make my broadheads out of old spoons I would find at garbage sales. When I was about 9 or 10, I had to pass up the biggest 11 point buck at less than 10 yards away, only because I wasnt sure if my home made bow was strong enough to kill it.

Nice pics and looks like great family time. I started out shooting a lemonwood long bow as a child, then a bear recurve, onto various compounds, now a Mathews Drenalin. I often think about getting back to basics with traditional archery but that time has not come for me yet. Keep 'em straight.

The last time I saw you there you were all busted up from rugby hobbling on crutches if I remember correctly? Always a cold beer at camp if you make it down.

yep, that was the time , popped an achiles tendon . i'm all better now Hah ! I would love to make it BUT our calendar fills up so fast that I can't make everything . I miss Denton and playing Rugby equally . My bows get shot 3 times a week here in my yard often times under the lights off the deck .

in regards to your son carrying alot of arrows, he is just being a realist. if he had 3 in the quiver he would be considered cocky. i remember my first 3D shoot and it wasnt pretty. There are only two things i vow to get into when i retire: falconry and traditional archery. looks like a ton O fun. i think the bowmaking and arrow crafting it what makes it attractive to me. i only know of a couple osage stands here in NY and one of them is near my inlaws house. everytime i drive past those trees it gets me thinking......... luke
