my son has been hittin the pumpkin seeds pretty good. no sign of crappies yet but weve been sticking to the shallows. normally the pickeral give the rapala a hard time too but not yet. only a couple accidental bass catches as well. Luke

no live bait for me. im too much of a fair weather fisherman. i wont go fishing unless i am catching fish. only go the last 45 min of daylight when they actually bite on top water stuff. everyone is usually leaving as we get there, its perfect. i use only two floating minnows. the smallest rapala floating they make with the chartruse back and then the smallest yozuri pin minnow. the small rapala nails the panfish and the pins minnow nails the crappie and large mouth. the pinsminnow color that works best for us is the rainbow trout looking one. that pins minnow has lackluster action but it just looks too real. I usually cast it and let it sit for 2 seconds. twitch once, pause, twitch twice, pause, then drag it 3 feet. we really nail em like that. same action for the rapala but the chartruse back lets you see the action and every little strike in low light. luke
