Schoolboy, usally march, before season opens is the best time fish the creek. They usally run well before you can start to fish for them. I think they are getting a few right now but have not talked to ayone that has fished it this year. The local paper said they were going to have a good year.

Schoolboy, I have always used steelhead eggs or rainbow eggs myself and have good luck using them. I do remember that one year I was short on rainbow and steelhead and did really well with brown trout eggs when it seemed everyone else was struggling to get a bite. Hope this helps. pockets

Schoolboy, There is a bait shop in watkins glen I know for sure. You would probably be better off having them before you go. As far as the best spots am not sure right now there are several places to pull off and fish so I guess one spot is as good as another right now. I will try to get you some first hand info from some of my buddies if they are fishing over there right now.
