i was going to go out deer hunting tonight/10-23-07/ but when i got home my uncle was out hunting and i didnt want to go out and accidently disturb him so i waited for him to come out of the woods and it was getting darker out. when he came out of the woods i went over and asked him if he saw anything. he said he saw eight big deer but they were to far away to get a shot at them but the reason he said he was out there was because one of my neighbors called him and told him they saw a big 10 point on our logskidding road next to the road at about a quarter to seven. i was pretty excited when he told me so im going out hunting tommorow night to see if i can see him.wish me luck. jesse

Jesse....go where the Does hang out this time of year. Where they /feed/bed/etc.. This time is PRIME TIME. The biggest buck I EVER saw was on 10/27 about 15 years ago chasing a doe. (And that includes scouting at night with a spotlight.) I thought I was out west and it was a mule deer. 26"? 30" spread? I don't know...just huge. The doe came through on a hard run with her tounge hanging out. Several minutes later I heard what sounded like a boar pig coming...crash,grunt,crash,grunt. He went by my stand at 50 yards on a dead run taking trees and brush down with him. Needless to say I was in the southern zone with a bow. (my luck). 2 minutes later here comes a smaller buck...I pulled out my grunt call and went crazy on it...he went by me but stopped and did a 180. I flipped my can over once and was drawing my bow 2 seconds later. A nice 19" heavy/wide beamed 9 pointer. If I remember right he went 185 lbs. Anyway that big buck was spotted once more that year 2 miles away on a drive. The older farmer that unloaded his gun on him said he was "3 foot" wide and jiggled when he ran...low to the ground. BIG BUCKS are out there...just gotta be in the right place and do the right thing when you're there. Good luck...and have fun.... P.S. Oh...by the way, that doe and bucks came through at 12:30 PM...so if you can, stay on stand all day. If not? You may miss seeing him.
