i used these boxes last year, they were open at both ends and made so a 120 fit in them,i put them out a year ahead of time and throughout the whole off season ther were mink tracks goign through it, as soon as i put a trap there the mink wouldnt go in it anymore

Lame! Maybe a small foothold buried in the mud a little?

I have had my boxes out for over 5 years. The first year I used them they worked great. Guarded with 120's. Found the pan works better. Ever since though, they don't seem to want to go in them. Bait and mesh in the back so they can see thru. Bait and lure in back. Worked for a weasel this year. But mink tracks close to it but hesitant to go in. Puzzled they won't go in. My boxes are made out of 1x 8" boards on top and bottom and 1x6" sides so the opening is 6x6 with 2 small slates on the outside bottom to keep off the bottom. Slick on coon and fisher though. Have to cut notch for trap. Has to be 8" minimum. Trap has to be little over 4" in. Look at NYS Game license book shows examples.
