I'd say those were bear claws marks on the tree, not mountain lion, but hey, never say never

Thats what I thought also. But with that many sightings of it. I also don't think its a pet. I have a hard time believing one would survive in the wild after being in captivity.

My wifes uncle lives in Taberg just down from Camden. He's telling me a half dozen guys have swore to have seen it?? I'm very skeptical about it; but he's not the story telling; B.S. type.

As a young man I lived on Panther Lake Road in Bernards Bay,south of Camden, There was a sand lot down the hill from the house and I saw large cat tracks there. This would be just north of the Ball Diamond. bob evans

Hate to burst your bubble, but the DEC officially wouldn't or couldn't make a statement that they released mountain lions anywhere in the state without having a public record of it. I'm not saying that there aren't any in NY, but the DEC certainly didn't release them here.

Not to revive an old thread but...these sightings seem to pop up in many areas from time to time. I saw a TV show a while back on livestock kills in Western North Carolina and folks thought it was a mountain lion because the animals were killed by neck bite (I think) and not eaten. In any event a guy saw a mountain lion a few days later and told the NC fFsh & Game people and then informed him he was wrong- no mt. lions in NC any more. He set up a trail camera and then took a photo of it and showed it to the NC Fish & Game people- nope- no Mt. Lion in NC- it was likely an escaped animal from a zoo. My thought is this, everyone is assuming these animals stay within a home range. Remember the Jaguar in Arizona a few years ago? Everyone figures it wandered up from Mexico. In any event I have at least some suspicion that maybe a loner male Mt. Lion from time to time may just take to wandering.
