I’m going to set a line of beaver traps tomorrow, have a bunch of problem colonies. The weather has been too warm, so I don’t know what the fur quality will be, but they have to go.
Interesting that fisher are chewing sap lines, but I’ve known for a long time they do have a sweet tooth. Good luck everyone.

Got a couple coon and one note before I had to shut my line down. Got covid last week and am just now feeling better, probably going to reset by the end of week.

I started trapping when I was 27 I'm now 78 and have never missed an opening day except this year. I had knee replacement surgery in April 2022 and find it difficult to get on my knees and even harder to get up. The fur market is so bad I can't justify killing a fox for five dollars. When I get better I will again trap but with the prices, so low I'll let them go. I only use offset traps so there is very little if any damage to their paws.

Good to see such and active thread. I get the whole price thing but as one of the long time fur buyers told me " well you can kill them or mother nature will do it." True statement. Caught a couple of coyotes that were about unrecognizable from mange from the same farm. Almost half the foxes I've caught were coyote bit so there is good reason tp thin the population. Almost too dry too, can't believe I'm saying that but I've found I'm getting too much dirt sifted sometimes because it's so fine and dusty but it beats the normal mud and slop we usually have. Did the best when we had a couple of night in the high 30's. Couple dozen traps out in about a 8 mile loop for me, just makes sense given the market and gas prices.

Well, I'm trying to hit the fisher but I can't keep the cubbies clean lol! In the cubbies - 1 possum, 3 nice racoon (I don't care what the price is, I love the leather and the fur of racoon), and 2 grey fox, both females. In 155s. The fox were a surprise. In a blind trail set, 1 very large boar racoon. Funny thing is that after I caught the first racoon in a cubby, I used the meat from that as bait in each cubby (I still only have 11 cubbies, 3 blind trail sets, and 3 canine sets out but I hope to have time to set more, soon), it was the racoon meat that got the attention of the others.
