Good Evening.
I am looking for a interim director for the Western Camp. Trapper Sampson has done the duties the last few years, with the help of his family, and they have done a GREAT job. He/they are unavailable this year. I have asked several people with long histories with the Rushford Camp but due to the short notice, they are unable to take on the responsibility.
In the past this camp has been at the Rushford DEC Camp, that camp is unavailable to us due to Covid restrictions. A facility has been located a short distance away where we can do everything that has been done at Rushford. I am waiting on the venue to get back to me on whether they can provide meals. We will be limited to 40 people at the venue, so if they can provide the meals, that gives us a few more slots for the campers.
Only hard and fast rule is you must have been a NYSTA member in good standing for two years, 2019 and 2020. My ideal candidate has been a mentor in the past and has a current NYS Sportsman's Education Instructor background, does not need to be a Trapper Education Instructor. If you can read this on here, and e-mail me, you possess all the computer skills you will need to do this. In addition to the previous, if you can juggle flaming swords while herding cats, you are perfect for this.
Time is of the essence, as I have to submit our permits to the DEC the first week of September.
If more than one person shows interest, I will discuss with other long time mentors and the NYSTA Executive board and we will decide who would best fit in this slot.
If you are interested please send me an e-mail at natebrock11@yahoo.com.
Thanks,
Nate Brock
