Please share your top 3 concerns that you believe should be concerns of NYSTA leadership. Just a list, you don’t need to sell them. Mine are:
1. Membership Recruitment 2. Funds 3. Communication

1. Informing membership when help WILL be needed (volunteers) so no one is overwhelmed when time comes and help IS needed (advance planning) 2. When and where our voices/efforts should be directed politically, etc. Sometimes Albany needs to know there's an army behind the officers. 3. So yeah, not so much a prioritization list for NYSTA, more of communication/housekeeping items.

1) Who is really steering the ship? Current president, past presidents, strong influences, old boys club? 2) Accountability from every officer, regional director, county rep, and lobbyist for their time, actions, and/or expense. 3) Repairing what's broke, which shows up as the many symptoms listed above and as discussed on this forum.

1. RESTORE COMMUNICATION WITH THE MEMBERSHIP WHILE WORKING TO INCREASE MEMBERSHIP> THE TWO GO HAND IN HAND, Establish WEBSITE
2. Bringing to conclusion, restitution, and punishment of the Gamba case, plus bonding of every Treasurer; NYSTA and all COUNTY CHAPters..
3. Deal with DEC to establish seasons that most benefit wildlife while harvesting animals are at their best, also reopen Catskill and Mohawk Catskill and Mohawk Valley Otter Season.
4. Eliminate required "special permit" to trap fisher and pine marten, keeping of log books, and submission of skulls. That's money out of our pockets!

We tried to get bonding and on the form it was asked if we ever had funds stolen. We need to prove now that we have taken steps to alleviate any future monies issue. We have a finance committee now, the president get the bank statement before the treasurer does and checks it over, and we have a non-finance guy look over statement and checkbook now. We have to check to see how long we have to do this and if this will meet the criteria to get bonding now.

OK, since I managed to add one and piss off the author, please allow me to resubmit 3:
1. All Directors and Officers return, as long ago required, to put a report in the Trapper's Post. The system is supposed to work that Officers and Regional Directors give feedback to County Reps and the members. How many do
3. Realize how important communication with the members. We are sadly lacking in this area. We eliminated the newsletter because of the expense, but it provided a much needed link with our members, even if we only did one or two per year.
3. Re evaluate our fund raising. Eliminate small return methods and check out big money.
