Won a weasel box complete with snap rat trap installed. [like a large mouse trap].
Do I bait the trap like you would for a rat or mouse or use it like a step in trap. and bait back in box.
Thanks. Ed

I put the bait in the back of the box in a tuna can to keep things clean, it works well for me.

rendezvous is right on. The idea is to keep the bait toward the back so when the weasel jumps in the box he lands right on the pan while concentrating on the bait. The front hole is high so it has to jump down from the hole and hopefully on your trap. Chicken liver works well as bait. They love blood

What kind of areas do I look for to get weasels? It's something my fiance wants me to get for her

Normally see them near the stone walls / brushy area on the edges of the fields near me. Also around swamps a lot, they need to keep cover from bigger critters.

Any rock pile or wood pile, especially near a water source. I use big coffee cans with #0 jump traps. They work very well. I had a record breaking 41 last season! All in coffee cans.

I've heard the cans work well. Same setup as the boxes ?
