Had and interesting morning on my little line today. Ended up with 1 red, a nice coon, a stinker, 1 rat, and my first beaver.
The beaver was caught in a muskrat set. My little Bridger 1.5 special managed to hold all 47 lbs. of him. Front foot catch.
It was quite a surprise as I casually walked up expecting a rat! I will be a little more cautious from now on as I approach my sets... The sapling I had wired my trap off to must have had just enough give to stop him from breaking the wire. He was very alive and not happy. Made for an interesting morning and I learned a thing or two. Of course, he was in the farthest set I had out. It was a long trip back to the truck to get the .22, and an even longer trip out of the marsh with that heavy bugger.
Never a dull moment out there!

Congratulations on your beaver catch
That echo's a point ; always anchor your trap properly. you may catch something larger than your target animal.
