The box with the 1.5 in it sounds kinda like a weasel box design maybe. Last season rendezous "sp" was making and using them. maybe he will chime in. Your target is Mink?

This one broke something inside my funny meter. Something about Chubby boxes got me thinking about the movie, "The Goonies," the truffle shuffle, and then something inside just went >GRITCH!!!< and froze up. Waiting to reboot. First, you're not "slow," Brian. Anyone who meets you knows that. I agree, most everyone has negative things to say about mink boxes and I also agree that it's not the time to pile on about what's wrong with them, this isn't the same thing you're talking about. I'd really like to see that article if you can post a link to it or maybe what magazine or book it's in if not online. I know you won't be at Herkimer to bring the book but maybe give the title so we can look it up? I haven't heard of others making or using a coon cubby that was dog proof other than what we're supposed to use for the bodygrips in the regulations. I make and use weasel boxes with a #1 or 1-1/2 longspring inside, I make them out of 1X hardwood and build them strong for taking coon, they reach in and feel around and -- yeah. They get caught. They chew on those boxes but the hardwood stands up to it, they never get to put teeth on the trap. And the weasels get in there from time to time, too. What I do is have the trap chain through another smaller hole, the trap sits inside the box, on some one end is open. No matter which way the coon comes in, through the open end or reaching in the other end, they can't get at the trap to chew, and a dog can't get at it unless it starts knocking the box around and then it'll spring the trap before it can get caught in it anyhow. How's that? I'll try to get some pics of what I mean. The first one I ever made was when my daughter was little and just HAD to have a pet ferret, and I built him a box that had an open end and then I made 4, 2" holes at the other end; one in the end, one on top and one on each side so he could poke his head through to look out when he was inside. I had it suspended from the top of the cage. He loved using that for sleep and for play. That's what gave me the idea.
