I have been in discussion with a member of NYSTA who has expressed concern that he never knows what is going on! So, if I had email addresses, I could contact those in my region, when there is something important to pass along, such as info from one of the BOD meetings! Any legislative alerts, when something of interest to trappers is posted in the Public Register, or anything that may be of interest or concern! Just as a way to communicate with members! I promise!!!!I will NOT be selling or passing on ANYBODIES emain info!

I have heard it repeatedly that members and/or potential members don't know what is going on! Whether it is on the legislature level or even something they heard from "my cousins sisters brothers uncle heard..." to possibly something the BOD may become aware of that the members need to know. It may get posted on the forum, but it may not be a good idea to put some things on a public forum! Trappers are not the only ones that read what gets posted here! Hence, the reason for my original post requesting email addresses. Those who are members may get it in the next issue of Traplines, but if it is something that needs immediate action, that may be too late!
So far, I have received 6, count 'em! 6! For those who are feeling left out, not knowing what's going on, what are you waiting for? I thought this would be a good way to expedite communications, but possibly I was mistaken!

Bob, thank you for trying to get trappers involved in the shaping of their own futures. It is truly sad that so few are interested. All those grey haired old folks at those NYSTA Director's Meetings have been there for decades, giving of their own time and resources to insure that ALL of us, including the 85% of trappers that do not belong to NYSTA, can still trap today and will continue to be able to trap in the future. It never ceases to amaze me that so many can only think of what is in it for themselves. "What do I get for my dues?" is the question often asked. Most of us work very hard for our incomes and in today's world we have to have some discretion in how we spend it or we won't survive. NYSTA is the insurance policy that protects trapping in New York State. No other entity fights so hard to ensure that the trapping lifestyle still exists in this state. Who would have ever thought, years ago, that Colorado would lose their trapping rights before New York? New York's trappers enjoy some of the least restrictive laws and regulations in the country as well as some of the longest seasons on many furbearers. Do you know why? NYSTA is why! We enjoy an excellent working relationship with the DEC, something lacking in many other states. We may not always agree on everything and at times we do not get exactly what we want, but it could/would be much worse if NYSTA was not involved. Personally, I don't think Bob would mind a bit if you weren't in his Region. I'm sure he would still add you to his email list to help keep you informed. In fact, I'll go way out on a limb here and say that I'll bet Bob would even send you information and alerts even if you are a trapper who is not a member of NYSTA. I would like to believe that every Officer, Director, and County Rep of NYSTA would do the same. We, NYSTA, work for all trappers in New York, members and non members alike, because we believe in the trapping lifestyle. Since Wayne and I took office almost six years ago, things have been pretty smooth for trappers in NY. Together with the NYSDEC Furbearer Management Team we have accomplished some very positive things for all trappers. We have been very fortunate that negative issues have been few and far between. However, that may be changing. There are some things coming up that NYSTA does not fully support and we are going to need the help of all the trappers we can muster to negotiate for what we feel is best for all of NY's trappers. Things happen quickly in today's world and like it or not, email is the fastest way of communicating to large numbers of trappers. With NYSTA's approval, Angie Berchielli (our "Traplines" editor) has been trying to compile an email alert list so that we can send out important information and alerts to trappers at the click of a button. I think she has been working on this for over a year, asking for members to sign up in every newsletter. So far, only 100 members have signed up I cannot understand why every trapper with email has not signed up to receive these alerts. It sure doesn't hurt to sign up for alerts both Regionally, as Bob has offered, and with NYSTA. If you would like to get on the NYSTA Alert list, please contact Angie via email at AngieBercielli@msn.com and make sure you put "Email Alerts" in the subject line or your email will automatically be deleted as spam. Above all else, when you receive an alert from NYSTA and/or a NYSTA Officer, Director, or County Rep, PLEASE do all you can to help. Instructions to do so will be included in the alert messages. I have a feeling there will be a need for this system before the end of the year and NYSTA will need your help. I will now exit my soapbox Thank you! Thanks, fellas. Thank you. I had no idea that the numbers were that dismal.
Yep, everyone's favorite radio station, no matter where we live: WIIFM. "What's In It For Me."
The oldest tactic in the world is "divide and conquer." I still can't figure out why so many of us live on the wrong side of it, or ignore the cure: United we stand.
And if you think I'm stepping on toes, I promise you that mine are always the first ones I hit.

Only 100 have signed up with Angie, that is surprising. No desire to be kept informed? And then guess who will be the first to p@ss and moan when things don't go as they feel they should.
I give Bob credit.....be nice to see that reaching out from more reps.

arrowsmith, at this time, there is no 9N Director. The county rep is A.J. Pachucinski. Whether he would have info, I don't know as he rarely attends a BOD meeting! I can send you info if you get your email address to me.
