Well, we got down to about 22* last night, and it's still stuck there... the rain that was guesscast was actually snow, about an inch and a half, then the heavy rain that followed became a nice thick ice layer. Walking is a balancing act, and the fuel truck that came in to replenish the diesel tanks in the orchard got stuck, so I'm glad one of the tractors is still wearing tire chains. But it's one day closer to warm! YAY! Nice bird, Mr. Mole! Now to train her to bring the big boys around in another 6 weeks or so.

Wow, I had to go down into the Village (yikes, makes me sound like Dr. Frankenstein! ) a little while ago, and holy cow... it's still only about 30* here in the hills (not Beverly or Hollywood) but a mere 2.5 miles away, and about 400' drop in elevation, and it was 47*.

good morning, down to 5 traps two floats one bottom edge.supposed to be warm week the water should come up. Morning Mole...newfox....if your looking for high water we have it here!! The NWS predicted an inch to an inch and a half of rain for this weekend. My raingage topped out at 4 3/4 inches from noon Saturday untill 8 last night, woke up this morning to six inches of fresh snow. The valley river bottoms are full of water. A view of the Chenango River south of Sherburne The high water sets I put in yesterday are now only reachable if you wade through a quarter of a mile of 2' deep water and can find the edge of the river. I think I'll wait a few days.
