Had a few friends that used the "new" Montgomery #4 trap with good results, so I just got a dozen. I got the Montgomery #4 offset dogless with forged jaws......which is an Oneida Victor #4 with the Monty dogless pan on it. They were $164 from F&T. Good stuff: - Forged offset stock jaws are very nice with no sharp edges - Jaw tips are turned up very high - strong springs - The traditional Monty dogless style pan - Seems like a fairly well built trap - Inside spread is 5 3/4 "....New York legal Bad stuff: - Average chain but with J hook to corner of frame - Spring pin too short to just add 4-coil springs I think they would be a good stock trap if they were baseplated with a center D ring. Here's what I did to them to make them a solid coyote trap - Baseplate with a center D ring - Made new longer spring pin for future 4-coil (You could use a Taos kit too) - Coyote tough chain - Outside round lams - spring pin capture / support Will update after the season on their performance....seems like it could be a nice coyote trap. Tom Stock trap Basplated with JC Conner rod swivel to lay flat Welded cross frame, add spring pin support bottom view Ready for action Outside 3/16" round lams

Nice Job my friend!
Looks to be alot better than the new "bridgers". As allways, the Cavens "pump" and "dump" once again on those.

I'm gonna order one of the new dogless Bridgers. Gotta see how to inside laminate around the trigger set up to make NY legal.
After reading the post on T-man, looks like I'll have to grind about a 1/16" off both sides of the pan so that the trap will lock up....the large pan is binding on the levers preventing the jaws from completely closing and locking up and leaving a large gap.
