Thanks for posting. Why is there a .25cent coon and a $1.00 beaver and a $3.00 coyote and a .50cent mink and rat and a $2.00 fox?

Thanks for posting. Why is there a .25cent coon and a $1.00 beaver and a $3.00 coyote and a .50cent mink and rat and a $2.00 fox? badly damaged aka roadkill, or grossly mishandled in the fur shed one or the other, simple as that

Thanks for posting. Why is there a .25cent coon and a $1.00 beaver and a $3.00 coyote and a .50cent mink and rat and a $2.00 fox? Mainly Because sometimes people tend to bring in Fur that has little or no value, and the Buyers are really actually doing the pelt sellers a favor by even offering as little as .50 CENTS. Some fur brought in to be sold is often damaged, mis-handled, early caught, un-Prime, horribly mangled roadkill, rotten, spoiled, grease burned, dried without being fleshed or has other major issues or problems that preclude the buyers paying much of anything for it. Buying it at all is a gamble, and Smart Buyers are not willing to risk much money to find out if this low grade fur is even salvageable. Some of this type of fur is sold at most every Auction. I had a mange afflicted coyote I put up that turned out to be very poor fur quality-wise that did not even get a bid. I also had a early-caught skunk without a white stripe that had little value because long, white-striped skunk are what the skunk buyers are looking for. The sale of low grade fur is a typical event at all Auctions, but some will not publish the results as a TRUE AVERAGE because it will lower the overall sales average for each species at their auction so they only publish the high bid prices and hide the actual averages so that trapper perception of low averages will not hurt the reputation of their Auction. walleyed
