Well gentlemen, Once again another fur season has come and gone, and it's time for me to organize my gear and begin getting ready for next year. Although it's a little depressing to think that it will be another 8 months before I get to set another trap, I know that in some point of my life, I'll look back and realize that my summer flew by far to quick. The spring and summer will be filled with gaining permission's (next season I can finally drive!) work, and fly fishing whenever I can, and soon enough, The next season will be upon us.
This season has brought many blessing, and equally, as many frustrations. But hey, I can't really complain. I had a blast, and caught some critters as a bonus! Not to mention I caught some of the nicest animals I have ever caught. Enough rambling, and off to he photo's now.
Nice female in a scent post.
This girl got caught with both paws in the cookie jar. This was a scent post...she wasn't pouncing on any dirt pattern and hole...
Only one like this, for this season. Feeling very fortunate!
My nicest cherry of the season! He was gorgeous! The trap next to him was sprung with a toe in it. To bad...would've made a nice double!
About as close as it got for a double this season.
My best day was 5 this season. The mangy one is not pictured.
Also caught a few big "Boss Dogs" of my area.
Was able to run a few traps on the side for these Little creatures. These rascals are a BLAST!
This was my smallest male...but he had great color.
Only cotton of the season.
This guy was DOA. Sure fooled me!
A rare Muskrat surprised me one morning in a blind-set for mink!
Also set a few traps and caught a couple of these greasy buggers.
Creek side double.
This guy was my best colored one.
Original plans where to set a small trap line out after I got back from a snowboarding trip in Vermont, towards the end of January. I wanted to catch 5 more fox to achieve my small goal of them. Unfortunately, I didn't make it happen. I know, I know...Lame. With school slacking, a part time job, sport activities and the fact that the fur in my area was beginning to rub and go downhill, I couldn't justify running any longer.
I did however set a few traps on a location specifically for these guys.
Just one off this location, but hey, I'll take the stinky thing. The #2 Bridger fully modified had a full pad catch on him too!
End of the season fur photo. (posted before)
Some fur is missing, but I really don't know of whoa anymore. Think a couple coon and 2 foxes along with the muskrat.
Ended the season with a total count of
35 red fox
1 Coyote
21 Coon
9 Mink
1 Muskrat
All the skunks and possums that drive me nuts.
I know...not allot compared to most of yous on here. But I guess I made the most of what I had. This season offered me enough competition to get a bad taste left in my mouth. Resulting in losing a couple of my best locations, and dealing with allot of educated animals. Oh well. Again, not complaining...it just sure gets old after awhile. And hey, did I mention I had fun? What else counts, right?
Thanks for viewing guys...and I hope he 2012-2013 was a prosperous one for all!
