Dear Friends, A fine tool for setting bodygrips, one handed. Built and available from our forum friend Mr. Rattrapper. It's worth its weight in gold. Regards Attachments:

Dear Friends, When using the setting rope to release yourself, after you compress@e the spring tilt the trap until the safety catches in place. On traps where you physically have to move the safety wrap the rope around the compressed spring twice and pass the rope to your caught hand to hold it while you engage the safety catch...... I would also recommend when using the caulk gun style setter to put a string with a snap to attach to your belt loop. Regards

Never owned a setting tool but always carried the rope in a coat pocket when beaver trapping. I always felt like if I HAD to, I could pull the rope up with my teeth and use free hand to put safety on. Luckily, never had to try it.

Jim I also trap the dacks exstensively and if your in a pinch no pun intended theres nobody gonna save your butt so I for one try to bring two of everything because you never know, Ive had my boat motor die on me at the end of my line and spent a day and a half hopeing and waiting for a passer by to lend me a hand, but I will say this that Ruffed grouse sure is good on a cold fall evening in the middle of the Adirondack Mountains with some Hemlock Tea to wash it down, happy trails fellow Adirondacker
