hey guys, I am new to trapping and new to this site but was wondering if anyone could give me a few tips on putting up muskrat and coon. I think i got the skinning down but need to know a bit more on fleshing, drying time and how to store these pelts after they are dry and before i get to the fur buyer. thanks

fleshing, boarding and drying like most things, everyone has their personal "tricks, and techniques" to achieve the same end result, fleshing, a good fleshing knife (brand and style depends on individual) a solid fleshing beam (wood or PVC most common), and again wood or wire stretchers individual preference, if you google both fleshing beams and hide stretchers theres a plethra of info on how to make your own and tons of videos to give you a base line for your fleshing, also theres several great posts on here already showing step by step for several species to include coon, drying time depends on temp and humidity, store in a cool dry area (i like to leave em hanging on hooks like clothes in a closet)

Your best bet is to look at the threads in the "Fur Handling" section where you posted this question, plenty of good pictorials and info on putting up both species. Also you'll find links to NAFA and other places that explain in detail the put-up.
