I run wolf fang, love them.... When i make the stakes, the cable is cut at 21-22 inches. After a crimp everthing, its close to 18 inches in length, from top of loop to furell. Is this to much...... Can i cut the cable at at 18 to make a 14-15 inch stake? With out loosing sleep over a pumped stake due to a coyote. The reason posting is because in my cheep mind i feel im loosing more stakes left in ground, because .... I cant pull them out, with a stake puller >:(Just trying to save money i guess,........ What length do you guys run? thanks

Depends on your soil conditions. I find a 15 inch cable to be plenty for my area. Even at 15 you won't get evey cable out, again it depends on what you pounded into.

I run the Berkshire HD's and my finished length from swivel to endis between 12" and 18" depending uopn the soil I'm trapping...less length for heavy clay and longer for loamy plowed fields.

I run Berkshires as well on a 15" cable. I don't get lots of yotes but have never had one pulled by a critter.

i run duckbills 15" And 18" with no problems , switched this year to 8" of chain on top of cable , easier to pull & chain hides easier , if having problems pulling stakes take a pick axe with you to loosen up earth then pull,

I also use hd berkshires, I cut the cable at 18" and they end up around 15" from tip to top of loop. If I find the soil is a little soft I'll put 2 stakes just like you would with rebar stakes
