Yesterday afternoon, I was driving home and licking my wounds from a less than fruitful deer season. I took a different way home than usual. As I came across this creek, I noticed something brown laying in the road. I stopped, backed up, and laying there was a beautiful buck mink. He must have been hit only a few minutes before I got there because he was still warm and limber. I have been trying to catch a mink for a couple of years but haven't had any luck. I am very thankful for any fur that hits the shed, and this guy was welcome. I finally know what everyone says when they talk about the smell of the mink. It gave me a chance to put up my first mink too. Sometimes blessings come in small packages. . Zagger, this guy rode up front with me

Mink and weasel you catch on purpose ride up front......roadkill go in the back!
Good for you.......amazing the number of road killed mink that are salvageable.......
And usually, especially with the big bucks, if you look around OFTEN there's no water to be seen.
Usually, the hide is OK but the skull and/or rib cage is jelly.....
Makes for interesting skinning.........
I still remember a couple of Springs ago when me and a few others saw numerous road killed mink after the big snow melt, when the culverts were full and it SEEMED safer to go over the road.

Mink and weasel you catch on purpose ride up front......roadkill go in the back! I knew I missed something The skull was toasted but there was no blood. Skinned out like I would assume a ranch mink would. John, if I didn't put it up correctly, I might just have to I have just never seen one up close. My kids came out to touch and see how soft the fur was. I love the fact that they are not scared or grossed out at all. Now to see if I can actually catch one. .
