I've been a member for over a year now, love the forum. I trapped when I was a kid for 10years ,coonhunted for 20+ years. I got back in to trapping with my 2 son 4years ago, so I've been in the wood before. I was up at 4am to check the line that I thought was going to be useless . My wife always says to becareful, but this morning she says please becareful this morning . I walked outside and it was really windy from Sandy, but no rain, I spotted the moon a couple times and some stars, I was really surprised. I have 24sets to check before work - it's a 1 hour and 10 minute steady walk. 1/2 way I landed 20 lbs bore coon, I'm thinking bonus catch... for the weather we've had. During the walk I cross a small creek. This morning the creek was up as suspected. I cross the same spot for 4 days now, while crossing I slipped in knee deep of water. With the extra 20lbs and the faster current IWENT DOWN.Ifell on my hand and jammed my shoulder. I made it out of the water fine but realized I was hurt , I felt this once before .... Dislocated shoulder! It would not move at all. 1/2 way done means 3/4 of mile walk usually ,but I couldn't cross the creek again. Another 1/2 mile give or take . I finally made it to my truck nearly 30 minute walk still carrying my pack and waders full of H2O. I forced off my pack and waders so I could drive home. 10 minute or less drive and I was home . My wife cut my cloths off and called 911. After the ER visit and a ortho surgeon visit,I was m home . Lesson learned you can't be to careful, and accidents happen even if it is routine . So when I say I hope everyone has a safe season I mean it! Thanks for reading.
