What would be a min. And max length of your trap chain be for canine traps. Thanks for your opinions.

Lot of variables. Stakes or drags being used? Depends also on the ground(hard or soft) and the location. Too short a chain and a coyote will try to pump the stake out. Too long and they will try to run out of the trap. Stakes I use ( at the least) a crunch proof swivel at the trap and one at the stake. 18 inches of chain usually for staking. If there is any give when I try to pull the trap by the chain I will use a cross stake setup for extra hold. I use a lot of drags also especially near trails and logging roads. I want the animal away from that area after being caught. Too many hunters use the trails and roadways. Never lost one yet on a drag. Usually hung up in the brush a distance away. I make my own drags. This is my way and everybody has their own. Find yours. Peace and good luck

I prefer a short chain on my K9 traps and usually have a swivel at the trap, then 2 machine links, a swivel & 2 more machine links and then an end swivel

Ballpark numbers
short chains......less than 10"
Long chains.......more than 20"
both have advantages and disadvantages

Thanks for the input and pics everyone. Mine are just like traps82 but 20" long I didn't know if that was to long . I've had short chain since I stated, but this year added spring and more swivels just curious. Thanks again

IMO swivels and new chains are the cheapest insurance to upgrade a trap. If any chain is in question.. I swap it out. New or used.
