Here is my skinning trough. I need some cross supports or someting because it rocks back and forth a little. I made it so there is a gap between the boards that hold the beaver, a la Dobbins. Here are some "Beaver Snappers" my 3year old made. She says we can let the little beavers go with her design! And kind of not related, here are some trash can taters we harvested this AM. All in all, a nice day so far. Sean

Why are they called trash can tatters?

I call them that, because I grew them in a trash can. Great way to grow them.

I put a cross support on it last night running diagonally on the legs, and now it is solid as a rock.

Dale
I am new to the beaver game. Last year was my first year. Back home in NY I was a dryland only trapper. Dryland trapping here in NH is a pain in the arse and setting a lot of traps is difficult - both because of the terrain and the public. So, this year I am cutting down the dryland sets to a dozen or so and making my water line a lot bigger. I dont use footholds, because I do not like the idea of having to make a drowner and there are a ton of duck hunters with dogs where I am at. Last year, I did well with 280s and 330s - well by my standards anyways...lol. This year I am adding snares to the mix. A lot of my ponds are back in a ways, so snares really sound like the way to go.
UNder the ice is my favorite! So much fun.
Are you going to try beavers this year?

I am going to try for beaver...I really am gonna dive right in and try to learn all I can. As you know this is my first ever and hope to just catch a few critters and keep learning all I can. I hope to be able to run my questions by you and all the guys here. Really getting itchy to get going!
