When setting 330's for beaver and you want to keep rats from getting in it,place a small stick 4-6" out from the trigger on both sides of the trap.don't use to big of a stick about the size of goldenrod, rats swim around past trigger and the beaver will just push on threw it,this works well when you're setting with triggers to the side

Hi...
I know exactly what you mean. I've always found to be a real pain to remove 'just' a 'rat and have to reset it for the beaver.
You can eventually get the 'rats in other sets, too. How deep is the water the 330s are set in?
If the water is fairly fast flowing deeper water...up to a foot and a half deep...try this. Set a steel trap on the BOTTOM of the waterway...on both in front and back of your 330s...!!
Muskrats will travel there on the bottom. I once took 13 'rats in 14 days in one 'deep water' set like that...!!

I'll give that a try, like you said it can be a pain and time consuming fishing rats out of beaver sets, but my main reason for setting up this way is because beaver opens before and closes after rats, this method has pretty much eliminated out of season rats in my 330's

Is the 330 on the bottom, just off, how far from the 330 is the foothold?? That is a killer tip!
