Just wondering what experience people have had with offset vs regular jaws on coils springs. Do the offset hold as well and prevent pad/foot damage much more than regular jaws?
Thanks.

We has a discussion on this few months back, try searching for it. Anyhow, I prefer the offsets for K-9's. I think they are much more forgiving on the paw. This is with duke offsets, which are much wider on the face of the jaw than the regular sukes. So, it good be due to increased surface area.

offsets are great in certain situations. I consider them to be for land trapping only, due to the fact that muskrat and mink have such small feet that a toe catch might allow these animals to pull out. I feel the offset jaws do a better job holding the larger animals, copared to the regular jaw traps.

I could not locate the previous thread. Had one more question if you guys don't mind. What is the difference between a forged off-set and a regular off-set? I can't seem to find any information on the difference.

duke and sleepy creek both have forged offsets in the jaws which makes the jaws thicker in the offset area. Bridger doesnt have this

forged offset are wider I prefer them to regular or use laminated. The MB 550 and 650 forged offset are great traps. that would be my recommendation for traps.
