What exactly do you mean by a gutpile? When I set up a bait station with large baits I like something I can stake down.I put in a few dirt holes and flat sets out around the bait and once they get some trails going into the bait I add blind sets on the trails.I like to use whatever the bait pile is made up of to bait my dirt holes.

whats the best way to trap gutpiles? Make sure you are following the Regulations by completely covering the "GUTPILE" with some kind of covering like dirt, rocks, leaves, branches, ETC. to dissuade Raptors and other birds of prey, etc. from wading through the "GUTPILE" and getting inadvertently captured. A better idea would be to place sets downwind and away from the "GUTPILE" so when Target predators swing downwind to air check the site, before committing and going in, they will run into your sets thus avoiding non-target catches which could create images problems for Our Trapping fraternity. walleyed
