I have to agree that weather is the biggest killer then nest raiding predators. In my area we have high coyote and bobcat populations and I know they take there share to. I know people do put all of the blame on coyotes for killing game animals when many factors are involved but I know for a fact that Coyotes kill alot of deer fawns in my area. They also kill full grown deer. I have seen a video of coyotes killing a very large buck. Bobcats also kill alot of deer weather people want to believe it or not.

Symbiotic predator-prey relationships......turkeys, deer, and coyotes are all experiencing higher population numbers then ever. More deer and turkeys allow for more predators.
Ask your farmers if they have actual problems with their farms, crops, etc. with coyotes or deer and turkeys?
Coyotes are Public Enemy #1........yet 97% of my farmers have had ZERO issues with them. They are "new" and different and easy to hate.
Or, "they are coming too close to the barns!" (yep, to eat mice and rats!)
While deer and turkeys do far more damage to their crops and actually COST the farmers $$, the coyote gets maligned for eating a few of them, helping the guy out! LOL
Still looking for a deer hunter that likes coyotes......ain't found one yet!
Not a coyote lover or hater, just a realist.

I get a kick out of the farmers that won't allow me to kill fox because they think they eat groundhogs but want me to kill every coyote I can!

LOL Still looking for a deer hunter that likes coyotes......ain't found one yet! Mark, You can count me as One Deer Hunter that likes Coyote. I don't hardly ever shoot one while deer hunting unless it is in December at the very end of the Deer season when they are as prime as possible. My reasoning is coyote are here in NYS because they are supposed to be here. They are part of the eco-system, and when they Predate Deer, they are doing their job as part of the "Food Chain" as Top Level Predators. That being said, I don't trap them either, as I don't enjoy skinning or handling their fur. That, and I don't like the way they smell, so while trapping, I avoid them at all costs. But seeing they are a member of the Wild NYS eco-system, I like them just fine. walleyed MZ
