Centro 44------thanks for the vote-----but I am way to old and way out of physical condition------a couple of years back a guy on this site and I were rely into going to N.M. and getting into the contest ----but its a lot of money and time---neather of us had either. I think this Phil Brown and Mark Zagger thing is a ploy by some one----last I knew they were Good Friends. Id guess one of them is comming out with a book or video---and a contest between them would make good PRESS.----J.M.O.

Phil and I are buds.....he's busting my chops.....he's just not very good at it.
We have talked about the contest.......would love to do it, but unwilling to sacrifice two weeks vacation time and my fall trapping to do it. I work for a company that affords me limited vacation time.
Maybe someday.......but I'd prefer to wait for Phil to retire!

Hey Bill I could probably get Kurt to stake us for a couple hundred KB 5.5s I wouls kick in a barrel of chain and the drags. You think a couple of old farts could scare those young fellers a bit.

oldeman---it would be nice to think we could scare them --- but I think its time for Mark and Phil to carry the torch----they are a couple of GOOD guys----Phil has defiantly left his mark in Pa. and N.M.---and Mark hasn't done to bad in N.Y.----It would be a dream come true to go head to head in trapping competition with them----but I am afraid it would only be a dream----they got years on there side----and as much as I hate to admit it its a REAL BIG advantage.------But its great to DREAM----I HOPE I NEVER STOP.Thank You for bringing up the idea ----and the invite.I think we would GIVE THEM A RUN----.....---AND IF NOT -----A SMILE OR TWO.

You are probably right Bill but it would be fun to try.I wouldn't be supprised if our old buddy Tomsnare would be tempted to get in on that one since he lives in NM now.He should be done scraping beaver hides by now.

Sorry-----but the name Bill Kurt---dont ring a bell right now---but he must be one hell of a man ------ to out of the blue be willing to lend us traps. ----Tom is a judge? ?---Hells Bells all we have to do is bring a 6 pack of apple pie---and we will get everyone else--disqualifyed---and win by DE-FAULT.-----Can we brag on a win like that ?? That is the question. ---LOL

Hey !!!Tom ain't no JUDGE ,I live across the river from the reservation, catch a few refuges from the contest all wet from swimming the river those guys put the fear in them. Thought about competeing ,its not for me at least right now, would be nice to catch coyotes you don't have to skin---they ain't my favorite sort of like beaver trappin funs over when the knife comes out-----and I'am still scrapin' bought a new system and found some new muscles to hurt!!-----Tom

Sorry I forgot the comma between Bill and Kurt.Iguess that is why I am not a famous author. But knowing Tom he would Eat the pie and then accuse us of bringing the coyotes with us and throw us out.

Those are not new muscles Tom ,that is old age creeping in you are catching up with Bill and I that is just to show you that at some point you will have to realize that you have to cut down on the numbers you catch because the other half of this sport can be just plain hard work.

oldeman ----YEP that sounds like the TOM I knew.---a river between Tom and some coyotes-----I wounder if Tom can do the back stroke ---if he can he-ll be after them----Tom will soon learn when you reach a ceartain age the only thing new is the --- DAY.----THE REST JEST FEEL'S GOOD NOW AND THEN. centro44---the compention is ---coyote trapping---you get so many traps---so many days---and the one with the most coyotes at the end is the winner---- I think you get bragging wrights ----and a 6 pack of apple pies. Phill Brown has won the compition 2 years in a row---if my memory dont blow it for me.-----OH YES--I-DONT THINK YOU HAVE TO SKIN ONE OF THEM BEASTS EATHER.

I will bet if you had to skin them this time of the year down there you would have to get the knife out as soon as you pulled the trigger or they would be green bellied before you got back to camp.LOL

No way will I jump on that bet------I cough way to many coyotes and fox in the hot weather----nothing like N.M. temperatures--but they would blow up kind-a fast. Always hated killing fox and coyotes in the warm weather ---seamed like a waist---but they were usually doing something to a farmer they shouldn't ----never could stomach coyotes killing calf's ----- not being completely born --- before they started eating them.

I totally agree.I love trapping Greys just because they are my favorite of all to trap.Coyotes even though I am not overjoyed about putting them up I can't resist catching as many as I possibly can just because of the Impact they have on all the other animals.I have eaven had lots of muskrats devoured on beaver dams in traps by those lousy buggers. The stinking things will eaven eat a Fisher.
