Some time during the week, my 7 year old asked me to him Turkey hunting, I told him, sure this weekend. Well, the weekend rolls around and we have 25 different things to get done this weekend, he reminds me that I promised to take him Turkey hunting. This morning we get up, go do the weekly grocery shopping and make it home by 9:30. I get the boy dressed up in his camo, I did not bother putting any on, was not thinking we would really even encounter any turkeys. By 10:00 we were in the boys blind behind our place. My son insisted on doing the calling............ I figured I'd just let the kid have at it and did not even bring a call. By 10:30 he had called in his first turkey, I could not believe it once I got it down. I guess, the moral of the story.......... sometimes it just best to go out with no expectations with the little guys and see what happens. 11 inch beard, 1 inch spurs. I did not get a weight on him.

Congrats AJ to you and the boy. It's always best when they ask to go. My son asked to go this past Saturday. We had a hen 10 yards away but no tom's. He was shaking like a tree in a hurricane.

His eyes looked as big as pancakes when that bird first gobbled. He's already has plans to call in another one for me this weekend!
