i am from pa -but for years we donated redfox to the pta -for the miss pa fur coat -i would guess somewhere around 400 skins over time - the great thing for us was -we wrote the pelts off on our taxes -whatever the high sale price was -even if it was for 1 skin the accountant used that figure times 50 reds or 100 reds for the total amount -where else could you get 75 dollars ave for your reds other than uncle sam -point to ponder-then there was a company called delaware fur company out of newyork city i beleive -for 75 reds they would ship you back a full length redfox coat -we would then donate the coat to a fundraiser auction -these were all coat type october redfox -8k to 12k right offs for 75 -october redfox -ahh those were the days

When you donate pelts or cash, where does the money go. studies, trapper classes, Does it go to someone that is rasing fox, rats, beaver so they can be let go. I dont know? Im sure it goes to helping the cause. Just wondering? lol, it goes to defend you right to trap. Do you think trapping would be allowed in this state with out a legislative voice lobbing for us? It goes to promote trappers and trapping.

All money that is donated or raised thorugh raffles, pelt donation, convention, etc. go directly towards the day to day operating expenses of NYSTA, the majority of which is Dave Miller's salary. NYSTA from time to time gets requests from other trapping & wildlife organization's, both here in NY and at the National level for donations and any donations made come from the general fund as well. Each year NAFA & Fur Harvesters auction gives NYSTA a small percentage of all fur sold that originated in NY and that money goes directly to the education fund. Anyone can attend NYSTA Board of Directors meetings, the Spring Membership meeting, the General membership meeting at the Fall convention and obtain a Treasurer's report is you're interested in where the money comes from and goes to...

i donate some fur each year 2 of the beaver at mansville were mine , last year at honeye sale i donated some fur ,. might not be a lot but it all adds up if we all donate a couple of furs , even if its your worst fur you give that you had problems with it was a donation , or your best rat , it all adds up.

Moyle Mink and Tannery donates 5% of your total sale back to the NTA only IF you include a special coupon with each shipment with the idea that 3% is kept by the NTA and the other 2% is suppose to come back to your home state Trapper's Association. Has this actually happened, and is our NYSTA getting our cut?? I know for a fact I spend several thousand dollars there each year, and we should be getting some money back to our coffers, and I'm sure I'm not the only one shipping to them. Just wondering.

AJ- you might be right about people just making excuses and there will always be the people who do jus that, but for the 10 people who do just have an excuse and no real intent to donate, there may be 2 or 3 who really did want to donate and that is enough to make improvements on location and promotion at auctions, and i dont know about you, but i can honestly admit i am way more willing to donate a few beaver than 100 dollar check, whether one way is cheaper or not it is just the idea.
